I have been in the club now for four years. For the first year I just loved going to meetings, where I could talk with members and see how they interacted with their birds. My second year as a member I wanted to help out more and started planning the events. I got a kick out of doing displays and sharing everything that birds can actually do and say, not to mention the audience’s reaction! I have always loved birds: as I had two as a child at my Nana's house and then as I got older I wanted one as well. I started off small with a green cheek conure, and now I have two blue front amazons and an African grey. I hope to see you at a meeting!

As long as I can remember, I’ve been a bird enthusiast. I started with one albino cockatiel that my husband got me for Christmas one year, and before long I had three breeding cockatiels and ten breeding pairs of budgies. Once I found out that there was a parrot club in Winnipeg, it was only fitting to join! Besides birds, I have also shown dogs, from German shepherds to tiny Yorkshire terriers, and have trained many difficult dogs for our home and for others as well. I have a love for animals and we have had many special needs dogs, cats, and birds come through our doors over the year; I think I do better when animals than I do with people. Currently I have a blue macaw, a yellow sulphur-crested cockatoo, and an African grey. I also have a great Pyrenees, a mixed Merrama sheep dog, and three rescued cats. And of course, my husband!

I have been part of the Parrot club for just about a year now. I grew up with animals of all kinds around me: snakes, dogs, cats, and fish.  When I was a young teenager my parents got my brother and I a cockatiel which we named Ozzy, he was a character and I loved him to pieces.  Just last year I adopted a Jenday Conure named Mango that was surrendered to you. Currently I have 2 parrots – A Cockatiel named Dingo and Jenday Conure named mango. I also have 3 cats, 1 dog and a fish tank with 8 fishing it. I can’t wait to meet everyone at a meeting.
